This simple, sophisticated, Valentine is sure to appeal to the grown ups in your life, but is easy and fun for the kids to make.

Even better, we've got templates for these and for the Heart-Shaped Recycled Crayons - making it easy to give tea to the grown ups and homemade crayons to the kids.

To download the template, scroll to the bottom of the article.

What you Need:

  • Any tea bags that have tags - green tea is nice
  • Sheets of regular computer paper - with a high recycled paper content of course, or at least fsc certified
  • A printer
  • cardstock - see above note regarding green paper choices
  • little bags - I used plastic, you could be greener

What you Do:

  1. Snip the tags from the end of the string on the tea bags
  2. Make your own tags and glue them to either side of the tea bag string
  3. Bag the tea
  4. Attach the bagged tea to the homemade valentine's card you made. You can download our template to make life simple.

Ideas for Tags

Making a sheet of tags on the computer is simple. Small squares with the line "Love is Steeping" are cute, but require computer time and therefore, more adult help.

For a kid-friendlier version, use a heart-shaped paper punch (available at any craft store) and glue the colourful little hearts to either side of the string.

What are you doing for a meaningful, earth-friendly, valentines?
