These cute little reindeer are so cute and amazingly, quick and mess-free. Since a pine cone makes the reindeer's body, they are also thrifty and green!
Create a Santa Display
We’re planning to make a whole set of these to pull Santa’s sleigh, which will of course be made from a cardboard box!
Start with a nature walk. Enjoy a cocoa while you craft with little ones. Finish with a lovely holiday display.
What You Need:
Each of the following items are needed to create a reindeer. If you’re making a whole set, you’ll need to multiply by nine. You'll need:
- one pine cone
- 3 brown pipe cleaners
- 2 googly eyes or others suitable eyes
- 1 red pompom, for Rudolph only
As an aside, because you know the kids will ask, the reindeer’s names are as follows: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen (variously spelled Blixem and Blixen), Rudolph.
What You Do:
This is so simple, though little hands will need help to get the legs equal lengths so that the reindeer can stand.
- Wrap brown pipe cleaners around pine cone in the front and back to create legs. Tuck the pipe cleaner into the pine cone to hide it.
- Do the same thing, leaving the ends up instead of down, to create antlers.
- Glue eyes
- Glue Nose
